Greenjacket Teacups Give Snug 3D Protection Of Insulator Hubs

Most wildlife discs are essentially 2-dimensional objects. As a result, they may not properly shield a 3-dimensional space like a bushing or insulator hub. Without effective 3-dimensional protection, these spaces remain at risk for animal-caused outages.

Greenjacket Teacups (wildlife discs) provide complete 3D protection of critical spaces like bushing hubs and insulator hubs. The Teacup creates a 3-dimensional physical and dielectric barrier that completely blocks squirrels and other animals from contacting the protected equipment. Teacups with different collar diameters are available, depending on equipment configuration and the animal species involved.

Teacups Protecting the Live Side of Switch Insulators

Teacups are ideal for establishing a gap-free dielectric and/or physical barrier around hubs, pipe buses, and other elements that have a rounded cross-section. For example:

• Multiple connectors leading from a pothead can be physically and dielectrically separated with teacups.
• Live lines passing near a switch platform can be physically isolated from the structure by installing teacups on the grounded side of the switch insulators. (Additional protective elements may also be required for complete protection.)

Greenjacket Teacups are available in a wide range of disc diameters, collar diameters, and collar heights. Collarless Teacups are also available for applications that require a cover with minimal height. If a stock Teacup will not provide effective protection, custom Teacups are easy and economical to produce.

Unlike wildlife discs made of grid or mesh, Greenjacket Teacups cannot be clogged with debris, so there is no risk of flashover from accumulated material. Greenjacket Teacups are:

• Solid physical and dielectric barriers that, when properly installed, can't be penetrated by beaks or claws
• Field trimmable and drillable
• Fastened with simple, easily removable push fasteners that need no tools to install
• Easy to remove
• Fully reusable

Used in combination with other Greenjacket covers, Teacups are effective tools for shielding power system equipment from squirrels, birds, snakes, and other wildlife.
