Cantega’s Manufacturing Facility in Red Deer, Canada

Cantega was founded in Alberta, Canada in 2001 by Marty Niles, a power lineman with over 25 years' experience in the electricity industry.

As a lineman, Marty saw the huge costs to utility companies and their customers of wildlife-caused outages. He also glimpsed a solution. Joining forces with a polymer chemist, Marty began the search for a unique polymer formulation that could be used to create effective, economical dielectric covers to protect electrical substation and distribution equipment from animal-caused outages.

Between 2001 and 2005, Cantega conducted in-depth research to find a polymer formulation with ideal performance characteristics (dielectric properties, durability, UV resistance, etc.). During that time, the company also developed a process to manufacture cost-effective, precisely sized custom covers for all types of electrical substation and distribution equipment. The GREENJACKET line of outage mitigation covers was born.

In 2006, Al Gourley, an experienced businessman and investor, joined Cantega as the Company's Chairman & CEO. The company made its first business breakthrough by securing an installation contract with AltaLink Management Ltd. AltaLink, Canada's only fully independent transmission company, is responsible for the maintenance and operation of approximately 11,600 kilometers of transmission line and 260 substations in Alberta. (see a Testimonial). Based on its results with Greenjacket, AltaLink has adopted Greenjacket wildlife protective devices as a standard.

In 2007, Cantega established an alliance with 3M Canada, providing 3M with exclusive distribution rights for Greenjacket in Canada. All Greenjacket covers are manufactured in-house in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Red Deer, Alberta.

Cantega's highly experienced and qualified multi-disciplinary management team and consulting team include experienced power linemen, wildlife experts, polymer chemists, tool-and-die experts, and polymer fabricators.

Cantega is committed to providing the electrical power industry with customized turnkey solutions that mitigate animal-caused outages and improve system reliability and profitability.
